My paintings join the edges of what we felt in childhood, to what we know we must do in adulthood. Imaginary friends, natural disasters and hunger relate more to the core of human experience than do college degrees and investment portfolios. My work strives to remind the viewer that we are poised between the physical and the spiritual world. It provides a small space to consider the feeling of discovery we delighted in as children, contrasted with the mulled heaviness many feel as adults. The part of life that resonates with the lyric resiliency of fables, a quality not relegated to cell-phones, needs an advocate. In my paintings, I push away cynicism, and try to remain loyal to the feeling of curiosity and care. |
